BRUCE PARKER, CHAIR, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

Bruce presented a new idea regarding a festival in our community. Initial research for the previously proposed “Log Jam Festival” determined it was too volunteer intensive to be successful and the idea had been tabled. The new idea “Festival for The Senses” would require minimal volunteer support and could possibly qualify for grant monies available up to $100,000. The idea is to provide an opportunity for businesses to participate and thus promote the businesses.  It would be held the same weekend as the Calabogie Artfest. Local restaurants would provide a Sense of Taste, the spa a Sense of

Touch, the Artfest a Sense of Culture & Sight, the Peaks a Sense of Adventure,

Calabogie Motorsports – a Sense of Speed. Target market is boomers within a one and a half to two hour drive radius. CABA members present were 100% supportive of the idea and, as in any grant application, it is important to include all potential community partners. CABA approved the motion that we support this project.

ROUND TABLE - New Members, Glen & Laurie Botrielle are enjoying their new home

in Barryvale.  Laurie will be offering Home Interior Design services and

Glen is an experienced builder and home renovator.

Next Meeting Date:  Wednesday, March 19 at 7 pm at Calabogie Highlands Resort, Barryvale Road.

Motion to adjourn at 9:40 p.m. approved.                                    Page 2 of 2
